Let us share two stories with you…….
Tom Eastwood is horse mad.
He’s been competing in the fast and furious ‘mounted games’ since he was 4 and was well into his apprenticeship to be a farrier, when at 20 he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Standard treatment would have meant Tom putting his life and work on hold for a year or more. Experts at Weston Park Cancer Research Centre were able to access the very latest treatments which got Tom back to the anvil to complete his apprenticeship on time.
“I am very thankful,” says Tom.
“My future would look very different if others before me hadn’t donated funds for cancer research to help put Weston Park Hospital at the forefront of cancer care in the UK”.

Katie Thorpe was treated for breast cancer at Weston Park and originally had to move between two separate areas of the hospital whilst receiving her chemotherapy.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity raised £1 million to create a new Chemotherapy and Day Case Unit and, as Katie says, “In the old unit I had to move between the ground and upper floors of the Hospital when the downstairs room closed at 5pm.
Having chemotherapy is a difficult and unpleasant experience but the nurses are fabulous and now they have a treatment area that supports their efforts!
This is money well spent and it needs to keep coming.”
